Wednesday Addams is back in a way no one expected in a new Netflix series!
The new story takes us on an incredible journey as they show us a new version of this great Addams Family character.
The role is played by Jenna Ortega, a young actress who is only 20 years old and who has appeared in films such as Scream 5, Nanny: Death Queen, Terror at Studio 666 and even in some youth series.
The funny thing about her is that she has a very special character and some sharp and dark comments.
On this occasion, we present to you phrases by Wednesday Addams. We are sure you will enjoy her black humor and her outlook on life.
SPOILER WARNING: In this article, we share phrases from various episodes of the series, so if you haven’t seen them in full yet, we recommend that you don’t continue reading.
Episode 1 “Wednesday’s son is full of pain”
“I break out in hives and then the flesh falls off my bones.”
At the start of the series, Wednesday Addams arrives at Nevermore Academy and starts spitting out a bunch of quotes and replies. And that first sentence is the answer Wednesday Addams gives to Enid when she asks her “what happens if she gets allergic to colors.”
“I’m not interested in participating in teenage tribal clichés.”
Enid tells Wednesday Addams how social groups work in Nevermore. But Wednesday takes it upon herself to make it clear quickly that she’s not here to try to fit in or stay long.
“In fact, I fillet the bodies of my victims and then feed them to my favorite menagerie.”
Here, Wednesday is in charge of making sure her companions are convinced that she is a killer or someone who should be respected, and no doubt, with comments like this, she does so without issue.
“I think social media is a soul-sucking void of nonsensical claims.”
Definitely, this phrase by Wednesday Addams is very accurate and at the same time interesting. Young people are trapped in social media these days, although every now and then you can meet a teenager who thinks that social media is the worst thing.
Episode 2 “Oh, the loneliest number”
“I like to inject. The social part is not very good.
This line is one of my favorites and is the exact answer from Wednesday Enid when she tells her to try to be more outgoing.
“I know that I am stubborn, stubborn and obsessive. But these are all traits of great writers… And serial killers.”
This is one of the best lines in the series as it fully describes the writers, I think most writers can relate to this quote.
“I act like I don’t care if people like me. Deep down… I’m secretly enjoying it.”
“For the record, I don’t think I’m better than the others. I’m just better than you.”
Curiously, one of the first enemies Wednesday makes is Bianca. In the first episode, we saw them fight.
Episode 3 “Friend or Villain”
“I could eat Girl Scouts for breakfast. In fact, I have an uncle who went to jail for this.”
Surely you know the only Uncle Wednesday who could do something like that, right?
“Use the words ‘little’ and ‘girl’ again to refer to me and I can’t guarantee your safety.”
By this episode, you already understood that Wednesday has sharp words for everyone and for all time. Even for a homeless person who lives in a pilgrims’ house.
“I don’t believe in heaven or hell. But I believe in revenge. I usually serve it hot with a dash of pain.”
“If problems mean facing lies, decades of discrimination, centuries of treating the marginalized as second-class citizens or worse…”
This is one of the most powerful and accurate statements that Wednesday makes to Principal Weems. And that’s her way of saying that she will always fight for the truth and do the right thing, no matter what that entails.
“If he breaks your heart, I’ll put a gun on him.”
Without a doubt, this will be one of the phrases that will become very popular among the best friends around the world. This phrase from Wednesday is quite scary, but at the same time gentle. What do you think?
“I don’t believe in mandatory volunteering, sweetened history, or happy endings. But above all… I don’t believe in coincidences.”
Episode 4 “Oh What a Night”
“What is this dystopian hell?”
“It’s not my fault that I can’t decipher your emotional Morse code.”
It’s kind of funny to watch Wednesday’s reaction when she says this after Tyler shows her that he wants to be more than friends and Wednesday just doesn’t know what he’s talking about. I think this Addams Girl quote applies to many of us who fail to detect flirting from others.
“Look, people like you and me, we are different. We are original thinkers, fearless atypicals in this huge cesspool of adolescence. We don’t need these meaningless rites of passage to prove who we are.”
Despite Wednesday Addams’ strange and introverted nature, she befriends Eugene and, ironically, becomes his only friend.
“They couldn’t even get real pig blood. It’s just paint.”
This phrase is significant in this chapter. Imagine your prom or special night and all of a sudden it starts raining what you think is blood straight from the sprinklers, only to find out it’s just paint. You would certainly laugh at those who did the “prank”, who could not even pull off the draw properly.
Episode 5 “You collect what is”
“… you taught me to be strong and independent. How to act in a world full of betrayal and prejudice. Thanks to you, I understand how important it is to never lose sight of yourself. So when it comes to fatherhood, I would say you were more than adequate.”
This snippet of Wednesday’s dialogue highlights the importance of her Father in her life. It is an almost magical moment when she expresses her love and admiration for something more than death and torture.
Episode 6 “Quid Pro Woe”
“I entered the black mouth of death to contact a relative.”
“I have not always been against birthdays. Everyone reminds me that I’m a year closer to the cold embrace of death.”
I know a few people who thought about birthdays this way. Wednesday is no exception, she’s fascinated by the concept of death, and birthdays only remind her that she’s getting closer to that moment.
“I believe that since you no longer have the old revenge to obsess over, you can solve some real crime.”
“I don’t bury axes. I sharpen them.”
“I don’t need your help or your pity. I already have a mother and a therapist. It’s painful enough even for me.”
Episode 7 “If You Don’t Grieve Me Already”
“I enjoy the funeral. I’ve been getting into them since I was old enough to read the obituary section.”
“If you are discovered, I will disown you and receive a reward for your capture.”
Wednesday’s phrase to her Uncle Lucas is very clear. Whether or not they are related, she will be able to deny any involvement or relationship with him, and even receive her reward.
“For some reason that I can’t understand or please, you like me.”
It’s funny that even though Wednesday doesn’t want to get attention, she ends up getting it from a few guys like Xavier.
“Friends are a burden and can be exploited. This makes them weaknesses.”
Many might think that this Wednesday friendship phrase is true, but what would our lives be like if we didn’t have our friends?
“I will ignore you, I will trample on your heart, and I will always put my needs and interests first.”
In this sense, I must admit that Wednesday is sincere and straightforward. Yet Tyler still wants to go on a date with her and try to kiss her.
“Of course, the first guy I kiss will turn out to be a crazy serial killer. I guess I have a type.”
Episode 8 “Killing Evil”
“Just a little light torture. Don’t worry, I won’t leave any traces.”
This is what Wednesday tells his friends moments before electrocuting Tyler.
“Every time I feel sick at the sight of a rainbow or every time I hear a pop song that makes my ears bleed, I will think of you.”
In a very different way, but this is how Wednesday tells Enid how important their friendship is.
“You cannot wake the dead. Trust me, I tried.”
“Is your spectral vision impaired? I’m dying”.
Even the near-dead Wednesday Addams is full of sarcasm and poignancy in her Netflix series. He tells this to Goody, who shows up to give him instructions on how to kill Crackstone.
“Will today’s bully become tomorrow’s enemy?”
